How to Turn a Dirty Mirror into a Streak-free Shine in Minutes

Streak-free clean mirror

Looking for a way to make cleaning easier and faster? Professional cleaners have the best tips and expertise to get the job done thoroughly and in record time. Clearing up those dreaded dirty mirrors in the bathrooms are the subject of this article. You will be surprised and pleased at how quickly and easily it is to get to a streak-free shine.

Mirrors that get a lot of use and abuse can have layers of build-up coming from several different sources --for example: toothpaste, hair sprays and gels, finger prints, facial products, food, and lots of water overspray. Mirrors that haven’t been cleaned for some time will also have a cloudy haze of build up, especially on the top of the mirror. Not to worry, it can all come off with the right cleaning supplies and some scrubbing.

First step: Spray the affected areas of the mirror with a lot of what we call blue spray. This is a spray bottle of water and blue Dawn. Let it sit for a few minutes so it can loosen up the debris. Wet down a cleaning sponge and scrub the entire surface of the mirror with the sponge. Scrub until you see whatever was on the mirror is scrubbed loose.

Second step: Take a 12X12 microfiber towel and wipe the entire surface clean. You will now be able to see the spots that need additional scrubbing with the sponge and blue soap. Stubborn hairspray may require something more like Krud Kutter.  Krud Kutter is a degreaser that is safe to use on mirrors and will remove sticky substances. Wipe off any remaining residue with the microfiber towel.

Third step: With the mirror now basically clean, it’s time to shine it up. Use a clean cloth to avoid getting anything back onto the mirror. Another microfiber towel will work, however we prefer to use a glass cleaning cloth. The glass cleaning cloth will be easier to attain a lint free, no streak shine. Spray the entire surface of the mirror with a solution of water, vinegar and a little blue soap. Wipe the mirror down with the glass cloth. Go in for buffing out any remaining streaks.

Fourth step: Stand back and admire! If you look at the mirror from different angles you will see spots that need a little more attention to get streak-free.

This method is tried and true. We hope it works well for you. If you prefer to have us clean your mirrors for you, we are happy to accommodate!  At Bright at Home Cleaning “We Brighten Your Home and Free Up Your Time!”
